I was reading the rules to the new $otc on the aussie game show page and with such a long description of the rules I was wondering if the game was 30 minutes long. I don't remember that much being crammed into our version but then I was younger when I saw the repeats on USA I don't remember that show very well

To actuallyanswer your question, yes, there's lots of stuff going on in an average show of "Sale of the Century."  The reason they can do that is because the show moves along at such a fast clip.  One minute of questions, then change gears for an Instant Bargain.  Another minute of questions, then a Fame Game.  It's not like they throw three different rounds at the players at once.

The "Ten in a Row" can't be called a "throwaway bonus game," because $100,000 isn't something to laugh at, even in Australian money.  The shopping is probably truncated if the champ decides to go on, or the host tap dances for a bit or we have a long credit roll if the champion retires.

For those who are Down Under and also on the board, what is it that endeared the show to Australian audiences?  It never caught on that big here, even though it was moderately successful in the 1980s, enough to have a concurrently running nighttime show, at least.
If you didn’t create it, it isn’t your content.

Also, if we have anyone here who has in fact seen an episode of "Temptation" by now, I'd love to know if the traditional Aussie "Sale" theme is incorporated into the theme music in some way.

And do Ed and Livinia make their entrance through the revolving doors you see them come through in the promo?

(Moderately interesting nitpick in the promo: at the very start, the three players at the desk are seated improperly...the nameplates read that "Karen" is the middle player and "David" is on the right (you can't make out the left name, save that it appears to have six letters), and yet the lone male is sitting in the center position and a lady is on the right. :))

Yes.  Students just aren't as concerned about learning it as they used to be. :-P

Is it a vote of confidence by the network that the show is debuting in the winter?
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.

Not that I know of. Nine Network is in bed with MSN, so the network site is http://ninemsn.com.au, and is really short on network information and long on MSN-style content.

The Australian Game Show Home Page has posted 5 minutes of clips from the first episode.  Scroll down the page to "Temptation."
